Goodness, do I have an exciting update for you: persistent cough— a short observational comedy that I wrote, directed, and acted in– won the first ever Warren Haack award at the 25th Collective at The Coppola! The event was hosted by San Francisco State University’s Cinema Collective on May 15th, 2016. The award, which has been renamed in honor of Warren Haack’s 34 year legacy of working within San Francisco State University’s cinéma department (Haack retires at the end of the spring 2016 semester), is given to the film that the Collective at the Coppola’s jurors deem to be the best film submitted to the event.
It truly is an honor for persistent cough to have been recognized for such an award. It was also so rewarding to screen the short in a theater filled with talented filmmakers, and to hear all of them laugh at the film’s humor.
I am so proud of the film and all of the hard work that the persistent cough team put into making it. Look out for persistent cough, coming to computer screens near you on May 25th, 2016. I am so excited for you to see it!

As an aside, this forty second video took me approximately nine hours to complete. I executed every aspect of this project from top to bottom: filming, editing, performing, recording foley, writing the rap, “producing” the beat… I am slightly amused by the fact that I’ve invested so much time into what ended up being a forty second promo. But at the same time, I am incredibly proud of the work that I put into this. I feel especially accomplished for having approached recording film sound with confidence.
